Channel models in MIMO-OFDM systems

Abstract:

MIMO-OFDM systems are a promising candidate for future wireless communication systems. The characteristics of MIMO systems are havily dependent on the radio channel. Therefore, modelling the channel is prerequisite for system design, simulation and deployment.

MIMO channel models can be classified into 2 categories, namely, propagation-based models and analytical models. Propagation-based models focuses on the wave propagation in specific environment, thus, it is important for link-level simulations and hardware channel simulators. Analytical models focuses on modelling the spatial structure, it is well suited for testing signal processing algorithms.

In this talk, both kinds of models will be presented and the complexity of them will be compared.
