Investigation on Mobile Radio Propagation Channel Models based on Measurement DataAbstract:
The wireless channels in mobile communications change the transmitted signal and thus must be properly modelled. If multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system is considered, the modelling procedure becomes more difficult, due to multipath components.
On one hand, statistical properties of MIMO channel are modelled by geometry-based stochastic models, such as WINNER II model. On the other hand, physical phenomena of radio wave propagation can be described by deterministic models, such as PIROPA (parallel implemented ray optical propagation algorithm). Additionally, a semi-stochastic model can be derived by combining the stochastic model and physical model.
In this thesis, the semi-stochastic model is implemented and compared to measurement data. The results show that the semi-stochastic model has advantages of modelling accuracy and execution time over the WINNER II model.
