Channel Quality Estimation for Industrial Cognitive Radio

Abstract:

A software defined radio (SDR) based prototype implementation of a channel quality estimation (CQE) unit will be presented. The goal was to determine the best possible channel in the unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum for a new industrial wireless communications system in the presence of unknown interferers. This was achieved by rating the quality of each channel with a channel quality metric (CQM) in order to find the best channel.
