Algorithmic Resource Allocation For Multi-Cell OFDM-Systems With Spatially Separated CellsAbstract:
Currently proposed wireless transmission system of the future often make use of the OFDM technique. Therefore investigation of multi-cell OFDM systems is of great interest. With the aim of reducing the inter-cell-interference(ICI), a novel cellular OFDM-network, is introduced. By optimizing all the available resources in a combined way, system performance is increased in terms of throughput. There are actually two aims in this work:
1) optimizing the ratio of inner and outer cells, particularly for an
average case
2) maximizing the multi-cell throughput under the given power
constraints
The first aim is achieved by performing the criterion-oriented inner-radius-optimization, based on the investigation of the inner-radius-dependent expected spectral efficiency in inner and outer cells. Striving toward the second aim, the resource allocation algorithm is developed in a communicative and cooperative way, which performs an iteration of subcarrier allocation (SA) and power allocation (PA). The PA process is based on the SCALE algorithm.
A model with a limited number of cells is suggested to evaluate the systems. Both theoretical and numerical evaluations demonstrate the potential of using the novel cell-structure.
