Automatic Preprocessing and Evaluation of Web 2.0 Content for Opinion Detection

Automatic processing is a key enabler for information retrieval from Web 2.0 sources, such as Social Media texts. Applying standard methods, i.e., Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods, to such texts result in low accuracies, since such texts differ from standardized texts, due to an informal writing style.

The task is to implement different text normalization functions, in order to provide input for standard NLP methods.

The implemented methods shall be evaluated by exemplary application to an existing data corpus.
