Evaluation of a Graph-based Clustering Approach for Radio Network Planning (Studienarbeit)

Abstract:

Nowadays, the complexity of cellular radio network planning has evolved to a degree which does not permit a fast solution of the correspondent optimization problems anymore. An increasing number of cells due to utilization of higher frequency bands as well as multihop concepts are among the reasons for the increased problem size. To cope with rising demands in network planning, heuristics have come to the focus of attention. One approach is clustering of the problem instance into several subproblems allowing faster overall solution computation while still featuring a good solution quality. In this presentation a clustering approach based on graph cuts is introduced and evaluation results for different cell planning scenarios are presented.
